Be honest: do you guys actually follow lockout/tagout (LOTO)? We’ve got the tags, but I haven’t seen them used since onboarding. Curious how others handle this.

We just had a surprise OSHA inspection recently. They flagged missing eyewash signage, an extension cord used as permanent wiring, and a ladder that wasn’t tagged.

Curious, what’s the worst or weirdest thing OSHA ever called out at your site?

I walked in on someone dyeing clothes in the communal washer last night. They left purple dye everywhere. I think my socks are now tie-dye.

I’m currently debating if I should renew my lease or finally take the leap and look for a small rental house. I’ve lived in apartments for most of my adult life, and honestly—I have mixed feelings. I love the amenities and not having to worry about lawn care or maintenance, but I’m tired of hearing my upstairs neighbor’s bowling league at 2AM.

For those of you with more experience—do you genuinely like apartment living? Is it worth it in the long run, or is it just the "lesser evil"? Would love to hear both resident and staff perspectives!

Hey everyone! Name's Frank. I’ve been in apartment maintenance for a little over 20 years now—mostly mid-sized properties around the Midwest.

I’ve seen it all: mystery leaks, raccoons in ceiling tiles, and tenants who swear they "didn’t touch anything." Still love the job, though. Always something new.

Found this forum through a coworker who said it’s a great place to share ideas and vent without the boss hovering. Looking forward to learning from you all and maybe sharing a trick or two myself.

Got a ticket yesterday from a resident claiming there's 'whispering' in the walls. Turns out it was a loose HVAC duct rattling near a vent... but the note left on the work order just said: 'Please exorcise the demons'. Anyone else get weird stuff like this?

I am still fairly new to the whole world of apartments but my Dad and my brother have been in the field for a long time so I decided to get into it as well. Its something I always wanted to get into. I have a lot of medical stuff holding me back in life mainly eye problems so I was never able to get a license to drive so a big deal breaker was transpiration and no experience in the field. However, my Dad was working for a certain company and he knows a lot of people in this field and one of those guys are good friends so I was pretty much in once he recommend me. I am currently working as a groundskeeper in a complex with 350+ units. There is talk of me being promoted to a tech at some point. Curious—how did everyone else break into this field?
